Pterygium

Pterygium is a pinkish, triangular tissue growth (butterfly wing) on the cornea of the eye. It starts on the conjunctiva near the nose.

It may slowly grow but rarely grows so large to cover the pupil.

Indications for surgical treatment of the pterygium are

- Eyesight worsening (Regular astigmatism in the beginning and latter irregular)

- Interruption of bulbous movement

- Chronic irritation

- Relapse of inflammation

- Cosmetic indication

In our center up to date surgery of the pterygium is applied

- Pterygium excision with Conjunctival auto-graft

- Pterygium - before surgery

- Pterygium - one day after surgery

- Pterygium - after three months
